Hello from our Director...

HR is an umbrella term for a number of employee-related processes, all the way from recruiment to termination. The truth is that your business is built on your people and managing them properly should be the focus of your HR department.

HR is also about managing change – in how you handle employees, how your organisation does business, and how it reacts to changes in legislation. In legal news, The Labour Law Amendment process is set to reach its conclusion this year. In particular, the Labour Relations and Employment Services Bills have recently been approved by the National Assembly and are waiting for sign-off by the President. These Bills are aimed at promoting labour market flexibility and decent employment, and they will have a considerable impact on SA Labour Law and your business. In this month’s newsletter, we take a closer look at these critical changes.

Wow! The Labour Law Amendments have taken several years, not to mention 2 political elections, to come to an end. The last major amendments were made in 2002, more than 10 years ago, which could explain why the recent amendments took so long.
