CCMA Conciliation & Arbitration
The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) is a dispute resolution body in South Africa that helps resolve workplace conflicts between employers and employees. When disputes arise, such as unfair dismissals, wage disagreements, or workplace grievances, matters can be referred to the CCMA for resolution.
The process begins with conciliation, where a commissioner facilitates discussions between both parties to try and reach a voluntary settlement. If no agreement is reached, the case proceeds to arbitration, where the commissioner hears the evidence and makes a legally binding decision.
